The Owner’s Box, Ep. 19.

Adelphi U. women’s basketball coach Missy Traversi
Another repeat guest for you, but also, another one with an important coronavirus-related story to tell.

Back in March, Missy Traversi had her Adelphi University women’s basketball team poised to make a run at an NCAA Division II championship. The Panthers, 27-3 at the time and top-seeded in their region, were about to play host to Jefferson University of Philadelphia in the tournament opener in Garden City, N.Y., when the NCAA decided to cancel all of its tournaments in hopes of curtailing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

In the 19th episode of The Owner’s Box, Traversi talks about how she had to break the news to her athletes that their dream of a championship run would be dashed before it even started. She and I also discuss how basketball coaches at all levels are responding to the “new reality” by turning to video conferencing and technology to conduct their recruiting in lieu of personal contact with athletes.

It’s 54 power-packed minutes of good conversation, and it’s all yours on The Owner’s Box.
